Wrapping up
the future together!
The climate crisis and scarcity of resources are current and visible. We can only bring about positive change if we develop new processes and new innovations that are based on renewable raw materials and are orientated towards circular economy models.
We are confronting the following problems as a challenge:
Environmental pollution
Due to global environmental pollution, 4.8 to 12.7 million tons of packaging material end up in the oceans every year. These plastics only decompose after up to 120 years and leave behind microplastics.
Combustion of oil-based films
The production and incineration of plastic generates to more than 850 million tons of greenhouse gases - equivalent to the emissions of 189 500-megawatt coal-fired power plants.
Alternative bio-films Toxic in production
Alternative bio-labeled films such as cellophane and PLA are mainly produced with extremely toxic chemicals that are harmful to the environment and contain hormone-altering plasticizers. Disposal is therefore a major problem!
Regulations or bans on plastics
Increasing political regulations are leading to restrictions on plastics. Various labels are currently required on products before they can be commercialized.
We utilise the power of nature and do not change the structure!
As part of research work at the University of Rostock, Dr Dirk Hollmann, CEO & Co-Founder of Cell2Green, has developed a new environmentally friendly process. Bio-based cellulose from trees and other sources is dissolved, spread and solidified without the use of toxic chemicals.
Our process enables the production of high-purity cellulose films using a simple, uncomplicated and non-toxic method. Cellulose from various types of organic waste or from the paper industry is used as a raw material.
